Professional Biography & Background:
My passion for the mind body connection began with my desire to teach Physical Education and Health after graduating from high school. I attended Shepherd University in West Virginia and earned a Bachelor’s degree in 1983. After teaching for ten years in the private school sector, I returned to school to pursue a degree in school guidance and counseling. I earned a Master’s degree from West Virginia University in school counseling in 1993 and started working as a guidance counselor in Loudoun County, Virginia. In 2012 after 28 years, I retired from the halls of education and moved to Santa Fe, New Mexico.
In 1995, I was involved in a car accident that delivered me five years later to the complimentary world of healing and began chiropractic and massage care. After witnessing the healing powers of alternative medicine, I decided to pursue a career in massage therapy. Continuing to work in education, I attended Shenandoah Valley School of Therapeutic Massage in the evenings, graduating in 2007. Since then I have been practicing massage therapy and hold a certification with the National Certification Board of Therapeutic Massage. I obtained my massage instructor license with the state of New Mexico in 2013, teaching science classes at the Northern New Mexico College and New Mexico Academy of Healing Arts.
My continuing studies include certifications in the Reconnection, the art and science of Energetic Healing and Cranial Sacral Therapy. I am also certified with the International Cupping Therapy Association. In 2010, I was honored as well as blessed to have the opportunity to pursue Reiki training, obtaining the Master Level designation. I participated in Qigong training in 2013 and obtained certification for Level I Qigong Instructor. My passion and love for the subtle energies of healing have always been a strong interest when choosing additional training.
I was lucky enough to grow up in Hampshire County, West Virginia on a farm along the beautiful Cacapon River. With many miles of mountain land to explore, I grew very fond of nature as well as connecting with its many stewards. A perfect day was lying in the fields watching the clouds go by, though that only lasted as long as one could stay hidden, as my sister and brother were not fond of doing my chores too.
I enjoy playing the guitar, drumming, yoga, walking, dancing and listening to music when I am not reading a good book or sitting in the sun.
